Fantastic Beasts 3 has been Delayed a Year

We got Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald last year and the next film was set to come out in 2020, but it looks like the movie has been delayed by a year. The good news is, at least we finally have an official release date.

According to Collider’s Jeff Sneider, Fantastic Beasts 3 is now set to come out on Nov. 12, 2021. Originally the film was set to come out in 2020, but now that release date has been given to Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. Production for Fantastic Beasts 3 is set to begin next spring.

Though the Fantastic Beasts films do make money, it’s no doubt that J.K. Rowling is having a bit of trouble transitioning from writing novels to screenplays. I mean, the world she’s built is fantastic and all, but Crimes of Grindelwald was just so poorly paced, and it didn’t even focus on Grindelwald that much—plus main character Newt seems to have become a supporting character in the main conflict with Dumbledore and Grindelwald.

Not to mention the entire movie just ground into a halt so that everyone can have some exposition on who Credence really is.

Hopefully this time around, WB brings in a screenwriter to help Rowling polish up her story. After two lackluster Fantastic Beasts movies, they need to start doing something different if they want this franchise to keep thriving.

Catch Fantastic Beasts 3 when it hits theaters Nov. 12, 2021.
