Star Wars may be making a big step into TV with The Mandalorian later this month, but next year will see Marvel Studios’ first miniseries in the form of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. What’s cool is, production has already started for the show, and main stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan have come together to make the announcement on Marvel’s IG stories.

Here’s the post:

Mackie had also posted this up on his Twitter account:

Based on what we know so far, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is going to follow Steve Rogers’ protégés and the passing of the mantle of Captain America. It’s rumored that the government won’t be too keen on Sam Wilson becoming the next Cap, and we’re going to see Sam and Bucky try to deal with it in the show. What’s more, Civil War villain Baron Zemo is back and ready to cause chaos once again.

Though we have had Marvel TV shows before, these Disney+ series aim to be different, seeing as they will have major ramifications to the MCU timeline. What’s more, they run with a budget of one standalone MCU film, so you can expect the quality to be on a different level.

Hopefully with these Marvel miniseries, the MCU can be more open to experimental and risky concepts. We already know that there are shows like Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk in the works. What I would love is for all of them to come together on the big screen eventually.

For now, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is aiming for a release in the fall of 2020. Disney+ officially launches on Nov. 12.
