The excitement for Paramount Pictures‘s Ghost In The Shell is building. With less than a week to go until the film hits cinemas worldwide, the production have released an exclusive new teaser over on the film’s Facebook page featuring an introduction from Johansson herself. And boy, does the new teaser look epic. You can see the exclusive video below.
Based on the Japanese anime of the same name, Ghost In The Shell centres around the cyborg detective, Major. Of course, casting Johansson to fill the boots of the Major hasn’t come without its criticisms. Paramount have had a big job to do in marketing the Japanese franchise in the US and globally. Yet, there has been some criticism that Johansson is playing the originally Japanese Major. On the other hand, with a high profile actor like Johansson leading the movie, Paramount have played a safe game. In addition to this, the themes and the sets of the Ghost In The Shell movie are stunning. The film’s style appears to draw a lot from the Matrix, which can only be a good thing.

Along with the exclusive video, we also have a new synopsis for the movie:
In the near future, Major (Scarlett Johansson) is the first of her kind: A human saved from a terrible crash, who is cyber-enhanced to be a perfect soldier devoted to stopping the world’s most dangerous criminals. When terrorism reaches a new level that includes the ability to hack into people’s minds and control them, Major is uniquely qualified to stop it. As she prepares to face a new enemy, Major discovers that she has been lied to: her life was not saved, it was stolen. She will stop at nothing to recover her past, find out who did this to her and stop them before they do it to others. Based on the internationally acclaimed Japanese Manga, “The Ghost in the Shell.”
With a string of beautiful teasers however, the film looks impressive. Only time will tell whether the US adaption of the hit Japanese manga will win over fans.
Ghost In The Shell arrives in cinemas on March 30th. Scarlett Johansson stars as Major, with “Beat” Takeshi Kitano as Daisuke Aramaki. The movie also stars Michael Carmen Pitt, Pilou Asbaek, Chin Han and Juliette Binoche.
