We watched Obi-Wan take on Anakin Skywalker in Revenge of the Sith, but we’ve yet to watch him have a modern clash with the armored Darth Vader. A lot of fans are expecting a rematch between old Ben and Vader in the Kenobi series, and Ewan McGregor talks about sharing a scene with the Sith Lord in his prime.
Talking to Total Film (via @sw_holocron), McGregor talks about sharing a scene with the armor-clad Vader. He says, “When we came to do the scene..I turned around, & f***ing Darth Vader was coming at me..I’d never acted into Vader’s helmet..It scared the shit out of me..I was like, ‘Oh my God, that’s not acting. That’s real.’”
We don’t know exactly when Vader and Kenobi will clash in the show, but it has been rumoured that they will battle at least two times—the first one having Ben be terribly defeated by a ruthless Vader.
What I’m curious about is whether Obi-Wan knows that the guy in the Vader suit is Anakin. For all we know, Obi-Wan still believes that Anakin died on Mustafar, and it would be a major shock to him if he discovers that Anakin is actually alive, and he’s turned into this unstoppable Jedi killer.
I have to say, it’s pretty great that Vader never gets to explain when the last time he felt Obi-Wan’s presence was in A New Hope, because it totally opens up the door for a second clash after Revenge of the Sith to happen.
Catch Obi-Wan Kenobi when it premieres on Disney+ on May 27.
