Coming in at 2 hours and 27 minutes long, including credits — we know how important they are– Captain America: Civil War marks the longest runtime of any Marvel film to date. Previously, Avengers: Age of Ultron was at the top with a runtime of 2 hours and 21 minutes.
The news comes by way of The Playlist, which also makes note of Zach Snyder’s recent announcement that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will have a run 2 hours and 31 minutes. BvS’s runtime will actually span 2 hours and 22 minutes minus credits; no info yet on whether or not to expect an after credit scene (though this Christopher Nolan statement may offer a clue).
Superhero films are leading the charge for progressively longer runtimes, something that fans are both pleased and displeased about. Tell us what you think in the comments below. Are these movies getting too long or are you hoping they may someday rival Titanic in length (3 hours and 14 minutes including credits)?
Captain America: Civil War begins screening in theaters May 6th.
