Today, we’ve had new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 artwork. Yet, as well as a glimpse at the Guardians’ next intergalactic foe, we’ve also got some new information about Captain America: Civil War, too. Concept artist and visual supervisor for Marvel Studios, Andy Park, has released the artwork, featuring Giant-Man and Captain America, over on his Twitter feed.
Yes, Captain America: Civil War may have hit our screens months ago – but the image in question suggests that something very different could have happened in the film. In the images, we see Scott Lang as Giant-Man battling Steve Rogers a.k.a Captain America. See the image below.
In Civil War, we have the two opposing sides. One is led by Iron Man and the other by Captain America. Yet, the image Andy Park released tells a very different tale. Giant Man and Captain America battling each other.
The artwork is part of the airport brawl scene, the massive superhero battle featured in the final film. We can all imagine the excitement those who planned the scene had when they chose which superhero would battle which. Any superhero fan would be dying to have that kind of power.
This poses some big questions. Were these two enemies from the beginning of Civil War in an early draft? Or, did Giant-Man get a little annoyed at his superhero co-star during the film?
Only Marvel, Disney and Andy Park may truly now.
As stated over on slashfilm, the idea of Captain America and Ant-Man doing battle was obviously around long enough to paint out this beautiful fight scene. If it had panned out this way, we wouldn’t have that Scott Lang/Captain America fan-boy scene. Nor would we have the equal-sided battle that we did have in the final film.
The new Ant-Man film, Ant-Man and the Wasp won’t be hitting cinemas until July 6, 2018 sadly. But Captain America: Civil War will be coming to Blu-ray in September.
