Ex-Batman actor Christian Bale made headlines when it was mentioned that he is in current talks to star in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder, but no official details have been revealed on who he’s playing. What’s interesting is, he have some new details on Bale’s character—should he land the role that is.
As per Murphy’s Multiverse, Bale’s part in Love and Thunder is said to be a mo-cap role, and there have been mentions of fan favorite character Beta Ray Bill. Of course, nothing official has been confirmed, but it would be interesting if Bale got a role that we wouldn’t even be able to see his face.
In the comics, Beta Ray Bill was one of the first non-Norse characters to be worthy enough to lift Mjolnir. The entire point of his character was that he was supposed to be a ‘monster’ who turned out to be an unlikely hero. Besides being able to lift Mjolnir, Stormbreaker was actually made for Bill in the comics.
With Thor likely looking for a successor to his role, the introduction of Beta Ray Bill would make perfect sense. Some people think Bill’s inclusion would lead to the film being kind of crowded, seeing that it will also have to explain Jane Foster’s superhero origin; but if Waititi found a way to balance it all in the script, then I think it would be the perfect time to introduce the character.
Not to mention Bill has also become a Guardian of the Galaxy, and the jury is still out on whether Thor will make an appearance in that movie or not.
For now, Thor: Love and Thunder is set for a release on Nov. 5, 2021.
