Chris Evans (or rather Steve Rogers) got the perfect MCU sendoff with Avengers: Endgame, but headlines have been coming out that Evans is once again in talks with Marvel to come back and reprise Captain America. News outlets and journalists have been tweeting this:

But what does Chris Evans himself have to say? He tweeted this:

While I think a small cameo from Evans is doable from time to time when it comes to the MCU, I think suddenly bringing him back would kind of lessen the impact we have from Cap’s ending in Endgame. I mean, we’ve had 10 years of films where Cap is just the selfless hero doing everything he can. If they bring him back for a large role, we shouldn’t expect it to be that meaningful. At best, it’s going to be a glorified cameo.

Then again, if they gave it a few years, maybe they could have Evans come back and try to tell the story of Cap coming back to the past and trying to live his life. That’s just a pitch from the top of my head, but it would be great if they found a good story to put Cap in. I mean, the comics always do.

In the meantime, we’ll just have to wait and see what Marvel says. While Evans’ Cap days may be officially over, he is set to voice the character who was the inspiration for Buzz Lightyear in Pixar’s Lightyear. I’m excited already.

MCU Phase 4 kicks off with WandaVision which comes out Jan. 15 on Disney+.
