Though Natasha Romanoff may have died in Avengers: Endgame, we’re still getting a solo movie next year starring Scarlett Johansson. What’s cool is, the movie has already started filming in Norway, and we have our first batch of set photos featuring Johansson.
Check them out:
The movie has also been given the working title of Blue Bayou, which could mean nothing for the actual story, but it’s still something worth noting.
We still have no confirmation from Marvel, but seeing that Widow died in Endgame, a lot of people are expecting this film to be an origin story which will delve into Widow’s background before she became an agent of SHIELD. Some are even guessing that the movie will involve Hawkeye and will reveal to us just what happened in ‘Budapest’.
Personally, I’m kind of tired that women-led comic book films have to be period pieces. From Wonder Woman to Captain Marvel, I just don’t get why we can’t have a contemporary setting for our lady heroes. At some point, I kind of wish they found a way to write Widow back into the MCU, but I’ll also be interested in someone who is going to take on the mantle, and we follow some of the original Widow’s footsteps along the way.
We don’t have a specific release date for Black Widow yet, but the movie is set to come out sometime in 2020.
