Mama Mia! Here We Go Again…literally. The second installment of the movie Mamma Mia! is here. This time it not only brings back the cast from the original movie but also welcomes Lily James as a young Donna, Jeremy Irvine, Alexa Davies, Hugh Skinner, Josh Dylan, Jessica Wynn as younger versions of the original cast and Cher as Donna’s mom Ruby Sheridan.
In the trailer, Sophie is facing a dilemma of having a kid after her mom has apparently passed (or missing for some reason) to prepare for the baby her aunts Tonya (Christine Baranski) and Rosie (Julia Waters) come to help and tell her about what Donna was like as a young a woman. Enter a young Donna during that summer she met Harry, Sam, and Bill.
Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgard, and Colin Firth also return to play Sophie’s three possible dads: Sam, Bill, and Harry and they appear to be overly excited for the new addition. Dominic Cooper is also back as Sky, naturally.
Joining the cast are Cher as Sophie’s grandma who shows up unexpectedly to surprise Sophie who doesn’t seem all that happy to see her. Guess we’ll have to watch to see how that turns out.
During interviews, Amanda Seyfried even went so far as to promise that the ABBA-inspired sequel is “better than the original” — although the fans will be the judge of that!
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is due for release in US cinemas on July 20, 2018, and UK cinemas on July 27, 2018.
