Chaos Walking Movie Pushed Back to March

After being deemed ‘unreleasable,’ Chaos Walking had been given a dump month release date for January 2021. What’s interesting is, it looks like the studio has somehow gotten more faith in the project.

As per an official announcement, Chaos Walking starring Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley has now been moved to a March 5, 2021 release date. Here’s the post:

We don’t know why the movie has been delayed, but a March release could very well mean that the studio is willing to give Chaos Walking a chance. After all, it stars two leads who are each the star of billion-dollar franchises, and it’s directed by the guy behind Edge of Tomorrow and The Bourne Identity. Besides, with Spider-Man 3 also coming out next year, what are the odds the studio wants to bank in on that Spidey-hype with Tom Holland?

Then again, the concept of ‘dump months’ only really works with the traditional set-up of the box office. With a lot of films relying on releases on streaming services, would a ‘dump month’ even exist by 2021?

Personally, I don’t want movies to be terrible, so I’m hoping that Chaos Walking manages to be a success when it hits the box office. It’s going to be interesting how things would push forward, counting that Ridley and Holland are now huge stars. No doubt, some contract will probably force them into being in the sequels—should there be any.

Chaos Walking is set to come out on March 5, 2021.
