Disney is definitely on to a winner with their strategy to remake their classic animated movies in live-action. 2015’s Cinderella was a big hit, and last month saw The Jungle Book also released to impressive box office numbers and reviews. The hype is high, then, for the House of Mouse’s live-action take on perhaps one of their most beloved movies ever – Beauty and the Beast.
Thanks to Good Morning America‘s Twitter account, we have our first look at the new version in the form of a teaser trailer. Be our guest and dine on the excitement below:

As is the point of a teaser trailer, we don’t see too much of the film (though it’s not like we don’t know what will happen). Still, we do get a great rendition of the opening theme from the original movie and a look around the Beast’s castle. We also get a snippet of the new Lumiere and Cogsworth, here voiced by Ewan McGregor and Ian McKellen. Most importantly, though, we get a glimpse of Emma Watson as Belle, as she reaches for the Beast’s enchanted rose. We haven’t see her do much yet, but we are once again convinced that she is a perfect choice for the role. Meanwhile, Dan Steven’s version of the Beast is yet to be seen, except for a growl and some claw marks.
The rest of the cast includes Luke Evans as Gaston, Emma Thompson as Mrs Potts, Josh Gad as LeFou, Kevin Kline as Maurice, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, Audra McDonald as the Wardrobe and Stanley Tucci as new character Cadenza. It will be directed by Bill Condon (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Parts One and Two, Mr Holmes) and will be released on March 17, 2017.
It might be a tale as old as time, but we’re still really looking forward to this one.
