Mike Mignola’s Batman: The Doom that Came to Gotham Comes to Life in New Trailer

Hellboy creator Mike Mignola had made the Elsworld comic Batman: The Doom that Came to Gotham back in 2000, and now WB Animation is adapting the property into an animated film.

Check out the first trailer for Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham:

Here’s the official description:

Inspired by the comic book series by Mike Mignola, Richard Pace and Troy Nixey, BATMAN: THE DOOM THAT CAME TO GOTHAM is a 1920s-based tale that finds explorer Bruce Wayne accidentally unleashing an ancient evil, expediting his return to Gotham City after a two-decade hiatus. The logic/science-driven Batman must battle Lovecraftian supernatural forces threatening the sheer existence of Gotham, along the way being aided and confronted by reimagined versions of his well-known allies and enemies, including Green Arrow, Ra’s al Ghul, Mr. Freeze, Killer Croc, Two-Face, James Gordon and Bruce’s beloved wards. Prepare for a mystical, often terrifying Batman adventure unlike any other.

Since this is an Elseworld story, we don’t really have to worry about anything sticking to the canon, so we can just enjoy all these new kinds of spins on established characters. Like with previous comic adaptations, we should also expect the movie to add some more characters and moments that weren’t in the comics, just to keep everyone on their toes.

With a March release, hopefully we get a new trailer sometime in February.

Batman: The Doom that Came to Gotham will be available on digital, Blu-Ray, and 4K UHD on March 28.
