Bad Thoughts: Absurdist Comedy is Back and Tom Segura is the Star

Tom Segura is best known for his stand-up work, and he’s made a name for himself being all kinds of raunchy and inappropriate. Now he’s bringing his thought process to a small screen with this absurdist comedy called Bad Thoughts.

Check out the trailer:

Step into Tom Segura’s twisted world, where he spins his signature dark humor into wildly unexpected and laugh-out-loud tales – and lets his intrusive thoughts win.

If you’ve watched Segura’s stand-up before, you’ll kind of get a good handle at what the show is going to be about. Besides Segura’s absurdist takes, it does look like the series also comes with a lot of raunchiness and violence—which should be right up the alley for anyone who enjoys Segura’s comedy.

I guess Bert Kreischer is the family-friendly one when you compare the two.

Though there are some comedians that I think make for mediocre series creators, I do get amazed when they go for some very artsy projects. Louie was pretty great before Louie C.K. got cancelled, and Donald Glover was best known for comedy before he got into the surrealist Atlanta. Maybe Bad Thoughts is going to be Segura’s version of that show, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

As a fan, I’m always willing to indulge Segura and his unique thought process, and watching it get realized visually should be a unique ride.

Watch out for Bad Thoughts when it hits Netflix on May 13.
