No, this is not a drill or a joke. According to Crunchyroll, during the cast’s reunion at the Attack Festival, it was revealed Season 2 will release in Spring 2017. Attack on Titan’s second run has been hit with turmoil as of late, as the production was originally meant to launch this year. Said announcement was made nearly two years ago, in November 2014, but plans were unfortunately pushed. While a Spring 2017 launch window is excellent news, it gets better.

The series staff is set to return. However, Tetsuro Araki will act as chief director, and Masashi Koizuka is stepping up from episode director to director. The returning cast is as follows:

Yuki Kaji as Eren, Yui Ishikawa as Mikasa, Armin played by Marina Inoue, Kisho Taniyama as Jean, Yu Shimamura as Annie, Yu Kobayashi playing Sasha, Shiori Mikami as Christa, Connie played by Hiro Shimono, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Reiner, Tomohisa Hashizume as Bertolt, Saki Fujita playing Ymir, Hiroshi Kamiya as Levi, Romi Park playing Hanji, Daisuke Ono as Erwin, and Fujiwara Keiji as Hannes.

During the Attack Festival, fans were also treated to the visual teaser image below:

A banner for the show’s second season has also emerged.

The years long wait will continue to commence, but at least there’s a beautiful Titan sized light at the end of the tunnel.
