Arrow‘s Stephen Amell took on the American Ninja Warrior course, and won. The actor is renowned for rarely needing a stunt double for his scenes on Arrow, and his physical fitness is so on point that he also campaigned to appear on wrestling show, Raw. He got his wish, and owing to a rivalry with wrestler Stardust, Amell took part in a tag team fight.

The actor also campaigned to be allowed to take part in Ninja Warrior, and NBC arranged for it to happen as part of their Red Nose Day campaign. Promised $5,000 for charity for each obstacle he completed, Amell flew through the notoriously tough course, and even went on to complete an extra obstacle which is perhaps the hardest of them all, the salmon ladder.

With coach Kacy Catanzaro — the first woman to qualify for the finals on American Ninja Warrior, by his side, and cheered on by his wife and fans, Amell tore up the course, still finding time to joke with the commentators and rouse the crowd. Amell is a noted charity campaigner, working tirelessly to raise funds and awareness for many good causes, but he certainly doesn’t go about it the easy way.

As Oliver Queen, he is used to using a salmon ladder, and as we heard in the video, they are used for training on the Arrow set, but after already completing six obstacles that demand huge upper body strength, it’s amazing that he found it within himself to complete the ladder so effortlessly.  Ninja Warrior hosts, Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbaja-Biamila, made it clear how impressed they were, even describing him as looking like Amell’s buddy, The Flash. It’s fair to say we were just as in awe of his efforts, too. Amell raised $35,000 for charity, and he once again cemented his role as a real-life superhero.
