Ant-Man shrinks back onto the big screen and this time it seems he’s replaced Antony.
In 2015, Marvel expanded their Universe with one of the strangest heroes ever: A man who shrinks and talks to ants. However, against all odds, Marvel’s Ant-Man blew fans away with it’s unique characters and science-driven storyline, both of which added a new variety to the MCU.
The film went through more drama than most superhero films. With multiple script revisions and director shake-ups, the film almost died a miniature death. But with director Peyton Reed, and brought to life by Paul Rudd, Ant-Man grossed $519.3 million worldwide, bringing the most unlikely of characters into the hearts of millions.
Reed returns to dive back into the subatomic world with 2018’s Ant-Man and The Wasp, which began production today. Marvel announced the news with a teaser that showcases tiny director chairs with the names of the titular heroes, and debuts the official logo of the film. You can watch the teaser below.
Possible Ant-Man SPOILERS ahead.
Ant-Man and The Wasp is assumed to explore the plot teased in Ant-Man, the story of Janet Van Dyne, the first Wasp who went missing in the subatomic universe during a mission alongside Hank Pyme. At the end of Ant-Man, Scott Lang (Rudd), travels into the subatomic universe to stop Yellowjacket.
The movie ends on the vague note that Pym believes there is a possibility Janet could still be alive, and eventually be brought back. Pym’s daughter, Hope (Evangeline Lilly), took on the mantle of the Wasp during a post-credit scene. This preceded a scene that introduced Hope and Lang’s romantic involvement, thus maintaining the legacy of Ant-Man and The Wasp being lovers.
It was announced at San Diego Comic-Con that Michelle Pfeiffer would play Janet Van Dyme, though the capacity of her role in the movie is still unknown. Concept art was also released showing Ant-Man and Wasp doing battle with soldiers, though this could be Hank and Janet or Scott and Hope.

We know Hank and Janet were the heroes during wartime, so we can speculate that we could be seeing the original heroes in action during a major war in history.
Ant-Man and The Wasp is set to release on July 6th, 2018.
