While Marvel are dominating the superhero genre, DC and Warner Bros. have been slow to catch up. Yet, with the premiere of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice last year, we got to see an inkling of what is to come. A few months later, and the wheels were in motion with Batman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman solo projects confirmed. Then, to ramp up the anticipation even more, Zack Snyder posted the first exciting image of Jason Momoa as Aquaman.
In June we’ll see Wonder Woman battling in World War I. In addition to this, we’ll also get the Justice League team-up we’ve been waiting for in November. Although DC are releasing small details about Aquaman, the movie won’t be hitting cinemas until December 2018. Though that might seem like a long time away, we do have some news from the set.
Amber Heard, who plays Mera, the Queen of Atlantis in the movie, has been on Instagram to show us the fitness regime she’s currently undertaking. Working with her on the tough exercises is co-star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II who will be playing Manta in the movie. Check it out below:
Amber Heard and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II aren’t the only actors getting ready for their roles. All of the cast have been building their superhero strength ready for the new film, including Jason Momoa, as filming starts in Queensland, Australia. Manta, played by Yahya, will be Aquaman’s main villain in the up and coming movie. For fans of the Queen of Atlantis, we’ll be seeing her before the end of the year. According to Comicbook, Heard is also training for her earlier cameo in the Justice League.
