A new trailer for the WWII spy thriller, Allied has landed. Paramount Pictures have been working with Robert Zemeckis of Forrest Gump and Castaway fame to direct this tense film.
In the movie, Brad Pitt plays an intelligence officer who meets a French Resistance fighter (Marion Cotillard) in North Africa during 1942. The two are then once again reunited in London. It is when this happens that tensions rise as the war puts pressure on them both.
You can watch the trailer below:
Steven Knight is scripting the film. Allied‘s plot is based on a true story that Knight heard when he was 21.
Quoted over on Collider, Knight reveals that:
“This is a very odd story. I was in Texas working as a dishwasher and doing all sorts of weird things. I was going out with an English girl at the time and her auntie lived in Texas, and she got talking about her brother who had been in the S.O.E., the British Secret Service if you like, and she told me this story that just stayed with me. I’ve always known it would be a film, and now it’s gonna be the ultimate.”
Included with the video is the synopsis for the film, too:
““ALLIED” is the story of intelligence officer Max Vatan (Pitt), who in 1942 North Africa encounters French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour (Cotillard) on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Reunited in London, their relationship is threatened by the extreme pressures of the war.”
Jason Bourne, the fifth spy film in the Bourne series, is dominating box offices. It’s definitely a refreshing change seeing a new spy film on the horizon. Allied is in pretty safe hands, too. Zemeckis has a wide range of films under his belt; Back to the Future, Gump and more. Yet, Zemeckis has been a little disappointing lately. It seems though, after a few average years, that Allied may well be his comeback. As well as working within the rich WW II genre, big names Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard are starring, too.
Allied will hit cinemas on November 23rd.
