‘Alien: Covenant’ First Look Family Photo

20th Century Fox teased the Twitterverse with a first look photo from the upcoming Alien: Covenant movie. The newest flick in the Alien franchise has the crew of the colony ship Covenant headed towards a remote planet. Of course, we all know how well these trips go. And of course, it goes exactly how we think it will go. Here’s the official synopsis of the film:

“Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise.  The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world.  When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.”

In the cast photo, we see the ship’s crew, which will include Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, Benjamin Rigby, and yes, James Franco. Fassbender plays another ship android, this one named Walter. He also reprises his role of David, now fully repaired and presumably wreaking havoc on the planet after his shenanigans in Prometheus.

If the preview is any indication, it looks like Alien: Covenant will be scarier and bloodier than Scott’s prequel Prometheus. Fassbender has even stated as much  in an interview with Collider last summer. “It’s much scarier than Prometheus but it’s got the same sort of scope of Prometheus,” he said, adding, “it’s kind of got more of the sort of thriller, imminent disaster feel that Alien had, so it’s kind of a beautiful meeting of both of those films.” At any rate, fans are excited about it and so are we.

Alien: Covenant opens in theaters May 19.
