The search for the new Harry Potter trio is currently underway, and while those kids are expected to be unknowns, the rebooted Hogwarts is expected to have some established actors play the adults.
Just in, Deadline has revealed six recurring cast members some of which have been heavily rumored for a while. Here’s the post:
‘Harry Potter’ TV Series Officially Casts John Lithgow, Nick Frost, Janet McTeer & Paapa Essiedu Among 6 https://t.co/e95IlGZ0J8

So John Lithgow will be playing the part of Dumbledore, Janet McTeer will be Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu will play the part of Snape, Nick Frost will be Hagrid, Luke Thallon will play the part of Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse will be Argus Filch.
Admittedly, the kids are expected to be in most of these episodes compared to the adults, but these adult cast members will have to commit to probably 10 years of being on this show—that is if this series is going to be completed.
I am kind of thrown that they would cast an American actor like Lithgow to play the part of Dumbledore, but he has played English before, and he can play silly and serious at the same time.
Personally, I’m excited for Nick Frost take on the part of Hagrid because he does seem like the perfect guy to play him; and just as much as I loved Robbie Coltrane, I’m sure a new batch of kids will love this new Hagrid as well.
We don’t know how far pre-production is yet, but WB is hoping that this series premieres sometime next year. It’s going to be a monumental task to reboot the entirety of Potter again, but at least it’s been done before, and it looks like the new production can take hints from the original films.
