8) The Director
Directing the movie is David Ayer whose previous credits include Fury, Training Day and The Fast and the Furious. It wasn’t just Leto who pushed the boundaries for this film, as Ayer tested his cast to the limit to really get them in the mind frame to play killers and criminals.
According to Joel Kinnaman, Ayer would question his actors about their deepest secrets and vulnerabilities. Naturally, he would then dish out this information to other cast members. In one scene in the film, Amanda Waller calls Kinnaman’s character Rick Flagg a series of insults. Ayer fed Viola Davis particular names to say because he knew that they would really get under Kinnaman’s skin.
Somehow, the cast don’t hold this against him and have spoken about how much they admire the director.
