1. Conventions are everywhere
We’re not just talking the big Californian variety. Comic book conventions have exploded all over the world, in all shapes and sizes. Since the year 2000 – back when the most explosive comic book action could be found only in comics – over 25 annual cons have popped up in the United States alone.
Larger cons like San Diego have turned into geek Super Bowls, a mecca of fan activity and big news. And why not? Companies that want to get the word out about their product will take it right where the fans are going to be. Fandom is a bigger tent than ever, with room for everyone from Grant Morrison to Conan O’Brien.
