Shooting on Star Wars: Episode VIII is currently underway. Yet while the film is being kept tightly under wraps, we now know that – shocking news alert – there will definitely be some Jedi action in the movie. This surprising revelation comes from a recent post on Rey actress Daisy Ridley’s Instagram page, which shows her brushing up on her lightsaber skills. Watch it below:
In the caption, Ridley describes this training session as “obvs not great.” Er, yeah, come on, Daisy. We can all do better than that…
The video shows her training with Liang Yang, who coordinated the fight scenes in The Force Awakens and appeared as the stormtrooper FN-2199 (the one with the extra accessories who yells “TRAITOR!” at Finn). An expert martial artist and acrobat, Yang is a highly sought after stunt performer, having worked on Skyfall, Game of Thrones and Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation, among many others.
Ridley may well need this extra training if her other prospective action hero role as Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft comes about.
Star Wars: Episode VIII is directed by Rian Johnson and is set to arrive in a galaxy very close to home on December 15th 2017.
