Marvel Studios‘ Ant-Man was a pleasant surprise considering the Edgar Wright drama that happened behind the scenes of production. The 2015 movie, starring Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, was encompassed by a very engaging cast. The sequel is gearing up to be filled with an excellent cast too. According to Deadline, Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and the Wasp just added the talent of Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight, Django Uncahined) to the movie.

Goggins is joining the cast of Rudd, Evangeline Lily (as the title character Hope Van Dyne/Wasp), Michael Douglas (Hank Pym), Michael Peña (Luis), TI (Dave), and most recently announced Randall Park (The Interview) as SHIELD agent Jimmy Woo. Some speculation about rounding out this already interesting cast suggest the addition of one of Marvel Comics’ “bigger” heroes. According to ThatHashtagShow, Bill Foster is looking to be added to the movie; his character is well-known as the giant-growing Goliath from the comics. Additionally, there was also some casting rumors that came from MCUExchange saying Hannah John-Kamen (Killjoys, Tomb Raider, Ready Player One) is playing Dawn, Luis’ new love-interest. There’s been no confirmation from Marvel, but if it proves true, I will put my Luis and Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings’ character in the Thor movies) ship to rest. This follow-up to the previous film, which grossed $519.3 million worldwide, should prove a fun ride for fans.

In common Marvel fashion, the role Goggins playing is being kept under wraps, but that doesn’t prevent fans from speculating. Comicbook.com suggested he might be playing the third Ant-Man from the comics, Eric O’Grady. Like his predecessor, O’Grady steals the Ant-Man suit, and uses for thieving and stalking women. Later on he took it upon himself to become a hero and re-brand himself as Black Ant.

This week is San Diego Comic-Con, so we can probably expect more information on Walton Goggins’ mystery part.

Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp will hit theaters July 6, 2018.
