When asked about whether or not the Joker was considered for Batman v Superman, director Zack Snyder revealed that both the clown prince of crime and The Riddler nearly made it into the script.
“The Joker and The Riddler both came close to being in this movie. We talked about the possibility of putting them in. [Screenwriter] Chris Terrio and I talked about it a lot and felt that their mythological presence is felt in the movie and that’s cool, but I didn’t want to get my eye too far off the ball because I needed to spend the time, frankly, with Batman and Superman to understand the conflict.” — Zach Snyder
As far as the narrative and tone is concerned, we won’t know if the two would have fit in the film until next Friday. However, Snyder does have a fair point; giving the Dark Knight’s rogues gallery too much attention would have surely distracted from the Batman/Superman focus of the film. Now the question is if The Riddler will fit into this particular film universe at all. If so, who would sport the green three-piece suit and question mark cane?
