The Caped Crusader is getting his own spinoff from the acclaimed The LEGO Movie and Warner Bros. is finally ready to show it off in the film’s first trailer.
Scripted by Seth Grahame-Smith and directed by Chris McKay, The LEGO Batman Movie features the return of Will Arnett’s voice for the Dark Knight. Alongside his voice, the film also stars Michael Cera as Robin, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl/Barbara Gordon, Zach Galifianakis as The Clown Prince of Crime, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred Pennyworth, and Mariah Carey as Gotham’s Mayor.
The trailer is fantastic and looks to maintain the same fun tone as The LEGO Movie. Watch it again, if you have to; it’s that good. Check out the film’s official synopsis below.
In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO® Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.
With Batman v Superman out tomorrow, the timing of the trailer could not have been anymore perfect. After audiences everywhere have taken a step into the darkness of BvS, it’ll be nice to know there’s a light-hearted treat waiting to be enjoyed in 2017.
