Thor: Ragnarok has just added a new member to its cast. Actress Tessa Thompson, best known for her recent stellar performance in Creed, has joined the roster in an undisclosed yet key role. All we can do right now is speculate but several sources feel she’ll either be a superhero, the female lead (taking over for Natalie Portman, who will not be returning this time around) or perhaps both.
According to Deadline, Thomspon will also appear in other future Marvel films.
Thor: Ragnarok begins filming in Australia in June and sees the return of Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder joined by Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk) and Jamie Alexander (Lady Sif). Other returning roles have yet to be confirmed. Additionally, pending official word from Marvel, it’s been reported that Cate Blanchett will be joining the cast as villainess Hela as well.
Thor: Ragnarok is set for release on November 3, 2017.
