Telltale has officially announced the continuation of Clementine’s story is set to arrive sometime in 2016. Who knows where the narrative will pick up. Unlike season one, the second season of the series concluded with a multitude of possible branching paths. Paths, that depending on what the player chose, could lead to Clem’s being in a number of different places, with a number of different characters.

The developer’s CEO, Kevin Bruner, told Mashable, “when we got to Season 2, we had a plan in the back of our minds of how we would make all these endings keep those threads going forward.” He continues that what they have planned for season three will be totally “unexpected.” Bruner noted that “from a role-playing, interactive storytelling point of view, it is not from the bag of tricks that we’ve ever shown anybody before.”

In regards to how players will carry over saves from previous games, Bruner said the following: “We’ve got a strategy to help Season 3 players … collect all their data from the previous games. [W]e didn’t have the cloud services in Season 1 that we have now. So we’re going to have a solution for everybody that we’re not talking about it yet.”

Telltale plans to release more information this summer at Comic-Con.
