Director David Ayer has briefly spoken on how much audiences can expect to see of the Caped Crusader in Suicide Squad, but prior to fan reactions based on a recent test screening of the film, much has been left to our wild imaginations. However, those who have seen the film must remain mum on the details, so their vague explanations, while helpful, offer little. That’s changed now, as details regarding the characters Batman interacts with have been unveiled thanks to Batman-News. Beware, minor spoilers follow.
According to Chris Begley:
“Batman does not cross the path of the entire team in Suicide Squad. He has a scene with Will Smith’s Deadshot, and without getting too specific, it’s sure to be an emotional one!
Next is the car scene that we saw in the trailers with Batman, The Joker, and Harley Quinn. Unfortunately there isn’t much interaction between Batman and the Joker here. It’s mostly between Batman and Harley. A report came out last summer that said the Joker’s car plunges into the water, and as we saw in the latest trailer, it does and Batman gets Harley out safely.
Lastly, there’s one more scene involving Batman and Deadshot in the form of a flashback.”
Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of this reveal is the knowledge that there’s little interaction between the Dark Knight and his greatest rogue. Why is that? We’ll certainly have to wait for the full release to find out. But perhaps that dynamic relationship will be explored more once Batman’s solo film hits theaters.
Luckily, you won’t have to wait long to get your Batsy and Joker fill, since Batman: Return to Arkham launches this summer, and only a week prior to the release of Batman: The Killing Joke. Interestingly, the animated adaption hits stores just three days before Suicide Squad opens on August 5.
