Forty years ago, Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) helped bring George Lucas’ imagined space opera to the big screen for audiences worldwide. But first those iconic characters, locations, weapons, and vehicles were designed on a page. Fortunately, forty years later, the ILM design team has done the same for J.J. Abrams’ The Force Awakens and the concept art portfolio is available for our viewing pleasure online.
Naturally, not all of the art made it into the film, so the sheer amount of images covers everything fans of the franchise could ever hope to see. There is no way to have them all represented in the gallery below, but you can visit ILM’s site and ogle the heap of awesomeness in its entirety.
