This week has been a week of announcements for Sony and Marvel, starting with the big reveal of the official name for Spidey’s standalone at CinemaCon. As of today those announcements now include, Tony Revolori (Grand Budapest Hotel) and Laura Harrier (One Life to Live), who have officially joined the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming. Revolori is confirmed as Peter Parker’s friend Manuel. Harrier’s character is a bit more under wraps but is rumored to be a ‘significant role’.
Jon Watts, known for Cop Car, is directing Spider-Man: Homecoming. The rest of the cast includes, Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, and Zendaya as a mysterious character named Michelle. There is no word yet on who has landed the villain role, but whispers on the street say Michael Keaton is a major contender. We know he has the chops, hello, Birdman. (Birdman = Vulture) You did not hear that from us.
Spider-Man: Homecoming’s cinematic release is scheduled for July 7th, 2017, but thankfully, we will get a bite at the young web-slinger on May 6th when he ‘underoos’ his way into Captain America: Civil War.
It’s good to see you in the MCU, Spidey.
