The first teaser for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was released this morning, debuting on Good Morning America as promised last night. The trailer provides a new look at the Rebellion against the Empire and the Galactic Civil War covered in the original trilogy.
In the minute-and-a-half teaser Felicity Jones’ character, Jyn Erso, is introduced. She’s a bit of a rogue but is still picked by the Rebels to lead a group to steal plans for the Galactic Empire’s ultimate weapon: the Death Star. Ben Mendelsohn can be seen as an Imperial Grand Admiral and there are also shots of never-before-seen Stormtroopers.
Rogue One is directed by Godzilla‘s Gareth Edwards and also stars Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Donnie Yen, Alan Tudyk and Rez Ahmed. The movie, which is the first stand-alone Star Wars film, opens on December 16.
