The Defenders recently finished filming and fans are patiently awaiting news regarding its premiere date. While details on that show’s front are slow to come, there’s good news for Jessica Jones fans. According to On Location Vacations (via MCUExchange), production on the show’s second season has officially gotten underway. Shooting for Season 2 is taking place today on Broadway and West 101st Street in New York City. This particular location was utilized in Season 1 for the exterior of Alias Investigations.

Details concerning Jessica’s second run are limited and have been for a while. We know each of the 13 episodes are to have female directors at the helm, but little else is known. Such a scarcity of news also extends to which character will play opposite Jessica as the antagonist. Whoever it is will have big shoes to fill after the acclaim given to David Tennant’s portrayal of Kilgrave. Interestingly, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg has already teased what they won’t be doing, while also hinting at there potentially being multiple villains.

Rosenberg said the following last year (via ScreenCrush):

Or antagonists, plural. No one is ever going to beat David Tennant as Kilgrave, so you don’t do that. The biggest mistake would be to try to repeat that. You just go, “OK, we’re not doing that, so we have this open to us.”

Hopefully, we’ll be learning what it all means soon. With all four of the shows pausing their next seasons for The DefendersMarvel and Netflix have previously made it abundantly clear that the next seasons of Jessica Jones and Daredevil would be quite a ways off, arriving in 2018. Information regarding second seasons of Luke Cage and Iron Fist is also unknown. But at least we have The Punisher to look forward to in the next year or so.
