In an interesting, yet possibly not unfortunate, turn of events The Hollywood Reporter is reporting, as it’s name implies, that Neil Patrick Harris is in negotiations to step into Jim Carrey’s shoes.
Harris, who is known most recently for his variety and award show hosting roles, would play Count Olaf in the Netflix version of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. He responded with his usual wit to some questioning of his capability to portray the character yesterday.
Gosh, thanks USA Today for the glowing endorsement. https://t.co/a5ZSyLolPi

Jim Carrey last played the role of Olaf in the 2004 film adaption of the book series about children whose parents’ death is exacerbated by a murderous uncle who attempts to steal from them.
There currently is no release date for the thirteen episode series that was picked up in 2014 by Netflix.
