With a release date not until July 15, Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters has already been receiving some unwanted bad press. It is the most hated movie trailer in Youtube’s history, and even actress Melissa McCarthy has admitted ‘confusing’ marketing for the film.
In what seems to be an attempt for Sony to fix its course ahead of the scheduled release, it has showcased a new trailer, which apparently has unveiled a brand new title: Ghostbusters: Answer The Call.
You can watch the new trailer below!
The film has received an unfortunate string of bad PR as Sony prepares for its release. Last year, director Paul Feig called geek culture full of ‘A**holes’ – the very subculture that the film is relying on for its success.
Here’s the synopsis for the movie:
Thirty years after the original film took the world by storm, Ghostbusters is back and fully rebooted for a new generation. Director Paul Feig combines all the paranormal fighting elements that made the original franchise so beloved with a cast of new characters, played by the funniest actors working today. Get ready to watch them save the world this summer!
It was unclear at first whether the new Ghostbusters should be considered a sequel, or reboot, or retelling, or remake, or whatever. Fans had very little knowledge of a potential Ghostbusters-Universe, where the old and new characters belonged in the same timeline. Melissa McCarthy was quick to dispell any rumours.
“It’s a reboot not a remake”, Melissa McCarthy told The John, Jay & Rich Show. “I know it’s weird that they say [in the trailer for the movie] ’30 years ago’, but in this movie it’s like the first one didn’t happen. It’s a great story, but it’s told totally differently”.
