Marvel has a busy schedule up ahead, with Spider-Man: Homecoming set to arrive this summer, and filming underway for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 underway. Their slate also has room for a variety of solo movies for new characters in the MCU, too, including Captain Marvel and Black Panther.
Starring Chadwick Boseman in the central role, T’Challa, the first teaser trailer for Black Panther can be seen above, along with the first poster for the movie, below. The poster shows Boseman in full costume bar his mask, sitting on a throne in a Wakandan throne room. Directed by Ryan Coogler, Black Panter features the impressive cast lineup we’ve come to expect from a Marvel movie, including Forest Whitaker, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o and Daniel Kaluuya.
Boseman made his debut in Captain America: Civil War, to favorable reviews, and the idea of a Black Panther standalone movie is certainly intriguing. Not much has been known about the movie itself thus far, except for a few images and videos from filming. All that has changed with the arrival of the first teaser, though. Hopefully this also means it won’t be long before a full trailer comes our way.
The teaser above offers a good overview of the movie, with some impressive action sequences on display. Despite criticisms of it being too dark, and the poster being badly put together, Black Panther still looks as though its going to be another impressive and entertaining Marvel offering.
Though Black Panther doesn’t arrive until February, 2018, it seems sensible of Marvel to start drumming up interest now, since they can also capitalize on the momentum of Spider-Man: Homecoming’s promotional campaign and- hopefully- its cinematic success, too. Boseman is set to be an integral part of the MCU going forward, too; he’s already filming for Infinity War, so it’s in Marvel‘s interests to make sure Black Panther does well.
Black Panther will be released on February 16th, 2018.
