Today, Daredevil season 2 went live on Netflix. The streaming giant decided to add to the already overwhelming hype, by posting a teaser trailer for Luke Cage. The trailer is not available for embedding, but is accessible for your viewing pleasure here. It’s okay, take your time. Watch it twice, if you have feel the need.
Luke stands there, motionless, in what appears to be a boxing gym, and waits patiently as a group of unknowing thugs fires bullet after bullet at his unbreakable skin. It ends with a well delivered one-liner by Michael Colter and only gets better as Nas’ “Made You Look” plays over Luke Cage’s name being displayed in bulky yellow letters. It’s short, funny, and sets the tone for what season one has in store; the perfect embodiment of a teaser.
The show will pick up a few months after the events of Jessica Jones and follow the titular character on his move to Harlem. There, the indestructible hero will battle a criminal element of his own, including villains such as Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes (Mahershala Ali).
The first season of Luke Cage will be available for binging consumption on Netflix starting September 30.
