After the sad passing of Tribe member Malik “Phife Dawg” Taylor, fans of the hip-hop group further wondered if ever again we’d hear new music from the Scenario and Bonita Applebum trio. It now appears that we’ll get a taste of it in the upcoming Marvel/Netlix series Luke Cage.

According to producer Cheo Hodari Coker, Tribe member Ali Shaheed Muhammad will be co-scoring the show’s music alongside composer/producer, Adrian Younge (Twelve Reasons to Die II). In an interview with EW (via Vulture) Coker let the news slip saying the show is “very sophisticated. I mean, it’s got a ’90s hip-hop vibe, but it’s really forward-thinking. We have Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad doing the scoring for us.”

The series’ teaser trailer dropped last month and Nas’ Made You Look was sampled as it came to a close, revealing the show’s bulky yellow-lettered logo. The hip-hop vibe is already set and it seems that with the inclusion of Muhammad, fans of the character and the genre are in for quite the treat.
