The DCEU seems to have gone through a tidal wave in the last few days. Late last week, it was revealed The Flash standalone director, Seth Grahame-Smith, left the project for “creative differences.” Hours later, rumors swarmed that James Wan, too, had departed WB’s superhero film slate, leaving Aquaman without a director. Fuel was added to the fire when out of the previous rumor came the report that Zack Snyder and the studio were butting heads over the impending release of Justice League and the direction the film was headed.
Thankfully, at least one of those rumors has now been quelled by none other than James Wan himself. Responding to the speculation, Wan posted the following image on his Twitter page.

If there was ever any doubt, which there should not have been, no one is better suited to take on the task of bringing Aquaman to life in his solo film. Wan’s passion for the project has been evident in his recent discussions of what fans can expect, and after the aforementioned rumor hit, speculation that the DCEU may be in trouble produced a shock wave of concern. Wan also added the following:
Please, there’s absolutely no need to attack Devin, or anyone.

It’s great to see the director is still on board and willing to address said concerns. Especially since he’s clearly busy wrapping up The Conjuring 2 and doing who knows how much work on Lights Out. If there was any validity to the reports, Wan and Warner Bros. must have came to an understanding that will hopefully make fans happy once the film hits theaters on July 27, 2018.
