James Gunn Talks ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 3’

Guardians of the Galaxy was Marvel Studios’ most surprising hit. A lot of why that movie had such amazing results was because of James Gunn’s extensive involvement. The director of the film is now working on the release of the sequel: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. For most of us, it is the movie we are most excited for in Marvel’s phase three. James Gunn went to Facebook to answer fan questions recently, and gave us a few tidbits about Vol. 2 and the potential Vol. 3.

Gunn was asked if a Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was in the works, and he responded with:

“There are no real plans, and I haven’t made up my mind yet what I’m doing next.”

After reading a lot of his responses, it seems like Gunn’s future is really up in the air. He was asked what other Marvel films he’d like to take the reins on, but his responses were mostly about how contempt he was in the project he’s working on now.

Even though it’s disappointing to hear a third outing with our favorite outer-space outlaws is not in the cards (yet), Gunn did answer another fan question about what it’s like to work with Star-Lord himself:

“Chris is one of my closes friends in the world, and I love working with him.”

There’s hope, but in the past Gunn has said that GotG Vol. 2 isn’t meant to “lead to anything else.” That is clear with the lack of MCU connections by not adding Thanos or the Infinity Stones in the film.

”I’m dealing with this one story. It’s not like I have to change something now for something in the future. It’s more like whatever happens in the future will have to be changed by what’s created now.”

He added:

“Do I have plans for a potential ‘Vol. 3’? Yeah, if I did it – but I’m not sure if I will.”

The other question that’s still lingering in our minds is: What is the Easter Egg Gunn has teased, but no one has found?:
