Any hope that Hayden Christensen might get to wear the Darth Vader costume, again, in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was dashed today, by a rumor that experienced stunt actor, Spencer Wilding, will be in the suit.
The casting was reported by Flickering Myth, which said that according to their sources, Wilding was performing lines on the set. That means Vader has at least a few lines of dialogue in the film and may not just feature as a cameo.
Of course, we won’t actually hear Wilding’s voice in the film. Making Star Wars reported in January that James Earl Jones will reprise his role as the voice Vader. Jones most recently voiced Vader in Star Wars Rebels, so he has an active relationship with Disney and Lucasfilm.
Wilding is a British actor who has used his imposing stature to his advantage, landing roles in Guardians of the Galaxy, Wrath of the Titans, Batman Begins and other recent big-budget movies. He also played a White Walker in an episode of Game of Thrones.
Rogue One opens in theaters on December 16.
