In what is already looking to be the best new show in 2017, FX announced it has ordered a full series of Feud, a brand new anthology show from Ryan Murphy. So far, it has been confirmed that Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon will star.

Drawing from his many successes, such as American Horror Story and American Crime Story, the series will focus on the retelling of famous feuds between celebrities. With Brad Pitt as Executive Producer, the first season is set to share the story of Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the season focuses on “the legendary rift between Joan Crawford and Bette Davis that occurred during the making of 1962 feature film What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?”

Through his many television shows, Ryan Murphy has shown talent in finding new ways to tell various stories. Pre-production has already added Alfred Molina, Stanley Tucci, Judy Davis and Dominic Burgess, playing various characters who were caught in the middle of such a prolific argument.

Feud adds a third and equally ambitious franchise to Ryan’s unprecedented slate of FX anthological limited series and marks our third such collaboration with studio partner 20th Century Fox Television/Fox 21,” FX Networks CEO John Landgraf said. “The series will offer a seductive, insightful look at what lies behind legendary personality conflicts.”

Anthology series have since become a new trend for many new television shows, no doubt made popular by Ryan Murphy. After constant declines in ratings and quality of some of his previous shows like Nip/Tuck and Glee, it seems this new method now works in his favour.

Meanwhile, viewers can get used to seeing his work on the small screen, as Scream Queens and American Crime Story are both returning for new seasons.
