Warner Bros. opened its highly anticipated San Diego Comic-Con panel with Ready Player One. Director Steven Spielberg took to the stage, and soon the film’s debut trailer hit. Thankfully, the footage has arrived online and it’s looking great to say the least. Check out the upcoming movie’s first footage below:

The film is based on a novel of the same name by Ernest Cline. In Ready Player One’s first trailer, fans are treated to their very first look of the OASIS in live action. Needles to say, it is incredibly stunning. Afterwards, a bevy of visuals and compelling action is on full display. The first look does not offer much in the way of information on story. However, the little that’s discussed is intriguing.

Tye Sheridan’s character, Wade Wyatts, describing life in the Stacks in the year 2045. His generation, he notes, are referred to as “the missing millions.” To escape from their reality, they climb in to a virtual reality world, one where the Iron Giant is a figure within reach.

For now, WB hasn’t released an official synopsis. To get a feel for what’s in store, especially if you’re unfamiliar with Cline’s work, read the novel’s synopsis below:

“In the year 2044, reality is an ugly place. The only time teenage Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the virtual utopia known as the OASIS. Wade’s devoted his life to studying the puzzles hidden within this world’s digital confines–puzzles that are based on their creator’s obsession with the pop culture of decades past and that promise massive power and fortune to whoever can unlock them.

“But when Wade stumbles upon the first clue, he finds himself beset by players willing to kill to take this ultimate prize. The race is on, and if Wade’s going to survive, he’ll have to win–and confront the real world he’s always been so desperate to escape.”

Ready Player One opens on March 30, 2018.
