When it comes to director/composer partnerships in the movie industry, few have produced such amazing results as the one between Christopher Nolan and Hans Zimmer. Dunkirk will be the sixth Nolan film Zimmer has worked on. The previous five include Batman Begins, The Prestige, The Dark Knight, Inception and The Dark Knight Rises.

Dunkirk is still a few weeks away from being released, but we have just been treated to our very first listen of what’s in store for the soundtrack. WaterTower Music released the track on July 7th. The title is “Supermarine.”

You can listen to it below. It comes in at eight minutes long, but it’s honestly a thrilling ride from start to finish.

One of the most impressive aspects of this track is how it clearly draws on the film itself. Dunkirk takes place during World War II, and throughout the song, you can almost hear the sound of sirens, alerting the soldiers that danger is fast approaching.

In addition to the track itself, we also have the full listing of the soundtrack. None of the titles seem to be too spoiler-y, but you should read at your own discretion.

  1. The Mole
  2. We Need Our Army Back
  3. Shivering Soldier
  4. Supermarine
  5. The Tide
  6. Regimental Brothers
  7. Impulse
  8. Home
  9. The Oil
  10. Variation 15 (Dunkirk)
  11. End Titles

Hans Zimmer has created some of the most memorable film scores in recent memory, so it’s very exciting to think about what he has come up with for what is certain to be an exhilarating motion picture experience.

Dunkirk opens in theaters July 21st. The film stars Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Harry Styles, Kenneth Branagh, Fionn Whitehead, Mark Rylance, and James D’Arcy.

What do you think of “Supermarine?” Are you excited to see how it plays into the actual film? Let us know in the comments.
