After guiding the second season of Marvel’s Daredevil for Netflix, Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez will team up as showrunners for The Defenders event mini-series that brings all the Marvel/Netflix characters together.

Petrie, who also worked on Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and Ramirez, an Orange is the New Black veteran, will be joined by executive producer Drew Goddard, who created the Daredevil series. The Defenders will bring Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) together to face their toughest challenge yet. Marvel Television chief Jeph Loeb will also executive produce.

“We’re incredibly excited to be able to bring our four street level heroes together in an epic tale woven by Doug and Marco whose work on Marvel’s Daredevil speaks for itself,” Loeb said in a statement released by Marvel. “They write and produce not only great action and adventure, but also the heart and touch of humor that’s makes us Marvel. With the inclusion of Drew Goddard, we’ve got a team that’s as formidable as the Defenders themselves.”

The shows starring Daredevil and Jessica Jones have already debuted, while the first season of Luke Cage will begin streaming September 30. Iron First will likely debut in 2017.
