New details from D23 and Brad Bird are revealing more of what we can expect from Pixar’s The Incredibles 2 – the much-anticipated sequel to its predecessor 14 years earlier.

Test footage was shown to an excited crowd who experienced some of the new material for the first time. They saw Mr Incredible babysitting Jack Jack, who escapes and gets into a slight altercation with a racoon outside.

“It’s fundamentally a story about family,” Bird said, after showing the footage of father and son. “The technology has gotten so much better; We can get them close to what we wanted to do in the [original]. It’s like driving a better car.”

Other plot details show us that there will be a shift in the dynamic between main characters, and that The Incredibles 2 will focus on the new main character: Elastigirl.

Holly Hunter will be reprising her role as Elastigirl, who joins Mr Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) and their children Violet (Sarah Vowell), Dashiell (Spencer Fox) and baby Jack Jack.

Frozone fans can also rejoice at the return of Samuel L. Jackson. Of course, Bird will be voicing the impeccable Edna Mode.

More footage showed the new home for Pixar’s favourite superhero family, and it’s quite the upgrade from what we saw in the previous film. A brand-new super-lair will host the future adventures!

Nicole Paradis Grindle and John Walker are producing Incredibles 2, which is set for release on June 15, 2018.

Next up on the D23 stage was more information on the highly-anticipated Toy Story 4. With characters and stories spawning over 25 years, many fans in the audience were not alive when the first film was released in 1994.

The main news from the film was that Josh Cooley has taken over as the sole director of the film, with John Lasseter (the previous director) will remain producer.

The third sequel of the historic blockbuster opens June 21, 2019.
