The Chase is on in New ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Clip

A new clip from the Assassin’s Creed movie has been released ahead of its debut later this month. In it, we see Michael Fassbender’s character, Aguilar, chase down an imprisoned boy on horseback. The chase evolves into a brawl atop a carriage where we see Fassbender perform his assassin duties on some unfortunate foe. This thrilling sequence comes to a nail biting end with quite the literal cliffhanger. Check it out below:

This short clip follows another Assassin’s Creed video released earlier this week, a featurette explaining the science behind the Animus. What has been notable amongst those that are familiar with the games, is that the Animus takes on a slightly different form in this movie. Instead of lying dormant in a chair whilst you relive the memories of your ancestors, the Animus in the movie has Callum Lynch psychically perform the actions whilst tied to some giant robotic arm. This will feature prominently in the film, as around 65% of the movie takes place during the present day. Hopefully this does not detract from the story of Aguilar in 15th Century Spain too much. Much like the games, many assume the present day portion of the movie won’t be as interesting compared to the assassin stuff. That said, the more active interaction with the Animus may spice up the present day element of the movie somewhat.

Assassin’s Creed releases on 21st December in the US and the 1st January in the UK. It is directed by Justin Kurzel and stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard.

“Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.”
