As part of a seriously awesome marketing strategy, photo stills of the cast of the upcoming Disney’s The Jungle Book have been released posing the actors with their respective characters. While the characters themselves are CGI (therefore Photoshopped in) they’re also a bit large in relation to their human counterparts. Still, these images are pretty amazing, and can anyone deny that Idris Elba actually is a freaking tiger? Talk about perfect casting.
Of course we’re missing one key character/actor combo: Bill Murray and Baloo. Guess we’re just going to have to wait for the big screen version.
Interesting enough is the fact that this version of the classic tale precedes another live action adaption slated for October. Jungle Book: Origins, directed by motion capture wizard Andy Serkis (who also lends his voice to Baloo), boasts an equally amazing cast including Benedict Cumberbatch (Shere Khan), Christian Bale (Bagheera), Cate Blanchett (Kaa) and Eddie Marsan (Vihaan).
Disney’s The Jungle Book, directed by Jon Favreau, hits theaters April 15.
