On a special episode (41:30 timestamp) of Conan O’Brien’s show, honoring the release of Batman v Superman, Conan sat down with the Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Holly Hunter, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Gal Gadot, and Zack Snyder. Whoa, that’s a lot of people.

Towards the end of the interview, Conan asked the one question on everyone’s mind: “I’ve got to ask Ben, because Ben shot scenes for Suicide Squad — highly anticipated. You’ve seen Jared Leto play the Joker. Any comments on his performance?”

Of course, Ben couldn’t divulge too much due to being “bound by more confidentiality agreements than you can shake a stick out.” Such a Batfleck answer. However, he did have this to say about Leto’s interpretation of the Bat’s greatest rogue: “I think Jared Leto is a genius… I think he’s brilliant. Masterful. Brilliant, brilliant guy.”

This, and Leto’s explanation of how he approached the role, are all fans have to go on. But with Affleck’s phenomenal performance as the vigilante being considered the character’s best live-action portrayal, he must be right about that purple and green puzzle piece that completes the Dark Knight.

Audiences get to judge for themselves how correct he is when Suicide Squad arrives in cinemas on August 5.
